Biomass heating is an environmentally friendly way of providing heat energy and could save you money.
Burning wood releases the CO2 that plants have absorbed during their lifetime, this is a process that is renewable, called carbon neutral. Burning biomass typically replaces much more carbon intensive sources of energy, such as oil and gas. Changing from a fossil fueled heating system to a biomass system can save the production of many tonnes of CO2 a year.
In recent years we have seen significant instability in the price of fossil fuels, oil and gas particularly. Biomass fuel sources such as pellets or grain have remained stable. Biomass heating systems not only provide environmental benefits but in the long term are likely to save money.
There are two main types of biomass heating systems, stand-alone stoves and wood log, chip or pellet boilers connected to central heating and hot water systems.
